I set out for a grand landscape shot of Lassen with the recent low snow levels and came home with an intimate abstract. I’ve seen similar shots and I’ve tried to capture one of my own failing every step of the way. Tonight, all the elements I needed came together. There was a rolling section of Battle Creek that wasn’t white water. The sun was low reflecting golden light off the opposite canyon wall and I got the combination I’ve been waiting for.
I did get a nice line on that shot of Lassen I set out for, but I screwed the pooch on the alpenglow leaving a moment too early. I’ll be heading back again this week to try again.
