COMMON QUESTIONS

What should I expect?

We know visiting a new church is hard. We want to remove some guess work, and help you feel prepared for your first experience with us!

  • Where do I go? “It’s pretty simple. Simply come  through the front doors and if you have planned a visit with us we will try to have a chaperon available to show you around.
(Check above for service times and directions!)
  • What should I wear? We’re pretty casual! Come as you are, whether you like dressing up for church or prefer t-shirts. Our Pastor typically wears jeans!
  • When should I arrive? We recommend arriving 15 minutes early. This will give you plenty of time to park, check in kids, stop by our I’m New Here station, and grab a cup of coffee before service.
  • What is a service like? Our services typically run close to 70 minutes. We start with worship and then have a message. Our worship style is contemporary and our preaching is always biblical (we love context and digging into a passage of scripture!)
  • Do I need to bring a Bible? You are welcome to, but if you don’t, we’ve got you covered. Bible passages will be on the screen so that you can follow along, and there will also be Bibles available in the seat in front of you (you’re always welcome to take that home with you, if you don’t have one!)
  • Where do my kids go during service? We have a nursery and a kids ministry called the Hive. The Hive is available during the 11am service only.
What does Hocking HIlls Church believe?

God

We believe in one almighty loving God, who has existed for all eternity in three persons, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

Jesus Christ

We believe that Jesus Christ is fully God, who became fully man born through the Virgin Mary. We believe Jesus lived a sinless life and died for the sins of all, taking on Himself the punishment we deserve. We believe Jesus rose from the dead conquering sin and death.

Holy Spirit

We believe the Holy Spirit is living and active in the world. We believe the Holy Spirit convicts of sin, reveals God’s truth and power, and works to transform the lives of those who choose to follow Christ.

Bible

We believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God and is our primary authority. It contains all truth necessary for faith and life.

Humanity

We believe human beings were created good and in the image of God, but sin and disobedience has broken human nature. We stand on our own from a perfect God and there is nothing we can do to restore the brokenness that sin has caused. But all can respond to God’s love and be restored in relationship with God as a gift of His grace.

Church

We believe the church is made up of all of those who believe in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. The church is called to be the salt and light of the earth through the ongoing representation of God’s presence in the world where people experience the reality of God through His people.

What connection opportunities do you have for adults

Hocking Hills Church provides a robust environment for adult spiritual growth and community connection. Adults seeking deeper biblical understanding can engage in various adult Bible studies and small groups, fostering insightful discussions and personal development. For those desiring gender-specific fellowship, the church offers vibrant ministries. The active men’s ministry provides a space for men to connect, support one another, and grow in their faith. Similarly, the “Daughters of Grace” women’s ministry creates a nurturing environment for women to build strong bonds and explore their spiritual journeys together.

These ministries at Hocking Hills Church offer more than just religious instruction; they cultivate a sense of belonging and support. The church’s commitment to providing diverse avenues for adult engagement ensures that individuals can find a community that resonates with their specific needs and interests. Whether through in-depth Bible study or the camaraderie of the men’s and women’s ministries, adults at Hocking Hills Church have ample opportunities to deepen their faith and forge lasting connections.

Where do my kids go?

The Hive, at Hocking Hills Church, is a vibrant and engaging space designed specifically for children during our Sunday services. We understand that little ones have big energy and curious minds, and The Hive provides a safe and nurturing environment where they can learn about faith in a way that’s fun and relevant to their age. Our dedicated team of volunteers creates interactive lessons, crafts, and activities that bring Bible stories to life, fostering a love for God and building a strong foundation for spiritual growth.

Within The Hive, children are divided into age-appropriate groups, ensuring that each child receives personalized attention and lessons tailored to their developmental stage. From lively worship songs and captivating storytelling to hands-on projects and exciting games, we strive to make learning about Jesus an enjoyable and memorable experience. We believe that children are an integral part of our church family, and The Hive is a place where they can connect with peers, build meaningful relationships, and discover the joy of being part of a loving community.

Parents can rest assured knowing that their children are in good hands while they participate in the main service. We prioritize safety and create a welcoming atmosphere where children feel comfortable and valued. The Hive is more than just childcare; it’s a place where children can grow in their faith, make lasting friendships, and experience the love of God in a way that resonates with them. We invite you to bring your children to The Hive and witness the transformative power of faith in action
