The Crowning Shepherd
When we pursue the presence of God, a relationship with God, it will not disappoint us. It is the foundation for hope, an eternal kingdom is being built and what we do today can bear eternal results. It will be filled with hope and promise and in the presence of god we will rejoice. Psalm 24 is a part of a trilogy of psalms the present to us the lord as our shepherd. Psalm 22 we looked at the picture of the Good Shepherd dying for the sheep, laying down his life. Psalm 23 is a picture of the Good Shepherd caring for his sheep and today as we look at Psalm 24 we will see it as a picture of the Good Shepherd coming for his sheep and crowning His sheep with blessings and forgiveness. Putting things like life into a proper perspective to help us in life is key to getting through it. Psalm 24 is a way for us to put life in a proper perspective. This was David's revelation for not just his life but for all who would be blessed by the grace of God. Date: 05/06/18 Scripture: Psalm 24 Download Sermon

We know more about David’s thoughts, words, fears, strengths and weaknesses than almost anyone else who has ever lived. And, think about this: what we know about David we have actually learned from God Himself, from God’s perspective. David was God’s man – David’s heart was after God, and for God. He was a servant of the Lord for life. David is the most described man in the Bible for a reason. He was a shepherd, warrior, musician, king, prophet and a writer of psalms. From long hours spent in the wilderness watching sheep and long nights guarding them under the stars as a young shepherd, David was inspired (after the Spirit came upon him in I Samuel 16:13), to write the Spirit- prompted lessons of his life we now have in the book of Psalms. Psalms 20 through 29, written by David, contain powerful words that reflect his profound faith and how that faith played out in his life when he trusted God. God has made David our prime Old Testament example of how we can live – like David did -- as a true servant of God.
