There is nothing more thrilling in life than in winning and having victory and there is nothing more agonizing in life than defeat."
But even in the agony of our losses we can be brought back to the winner's circle and take the checkered flag because God loves us, forgives us, and restores us.
For believers Easter is the symbol of our checkered flag, our victory flag. To be sure, it is victory over universal forces, such as sin, injustice, and evil that would have us agonizing in defeat, but Jesus victory over death has an individual, personal, impact as well.
Paul encourages us to live our lives in such a way that we can take the checkered flag and taste the thrill of victory at the banquet table in heaven. Everything else on this earth, all earthly crowns fail to offer the thrill of experiencing the checkered flag of heaven.
