I believe that through it all we are grateful most of the time for the spiritual benefits that come to us through the church, but there is this growing attitude by Christians today who are treating the church with disdain or having less respect for the church. More and more people of faith who have experienced the local church are,1. Considering membership in a local church an option.2. Their attendance becomes sporadic.3. Their giving is minimal.4. They view ministry as burdensome.5. They believe that sin is permissible.Just imagine though if the founder of our faith, Jesus Christ treated the church in the same way? But He didn't and our verse today shows us that if Jesus Christ, loved the church so much that He, "gave Himself up for her", why don't we share the same sacrificial concern for her?
